[10-24-07 – Satellite Today] Fortified DataCom, a wholly owned subsidiary of Fortified Holdings Corp., has been awarded a contract to supply the Monroe, La. Police department with a communications and surveillance mission package, Fortified announced Oct. 23.
Fortified DataCom will supply the police department with its Nomad XSB mobile mesh network, which can quickly deploy and provide voice, data and video communications for emergency situations. The platform can also provide mobile surveillance and crime fighting capability.
Fortified will be providing a number of portable wireless network mesh access points as well as several wireless remote surveillance cameras including digital recording equipment. The shipment is scheduled for delivery within 30-45 days followed by a brief onsite training period prior to deployment.
The contract includes a service agreement as well as a prepaid credit provisioning instant access to Inmarsat’s Broadband Global Area Network which providing data speeds up to 484 kbps and simultaneous voice and data calling capability.
A grant provided by the Justice Assistance Grant Program, operated under the U.S. Department of Justice’s Bureau of Justice Assistance allowed the city, situated about 260 miles northwest of New Orleans, to purchase the system.
