[10-03-07 – Satellite Today] Maxwell Technologies Inc. received a contract to produce single board computers for the European Space Agency’s Gaia astronomy mission, the company announced Oct. 1.
Maxwell will provide seven of its SCS750 computers that will process images and data gathered by the spacecraft’s 2-ton camera. The data gathered during the five-year mission to study the origin and evolution of the Milky Way galaxy will enable scientists to create a 3-dimensional map of the galaxy and study its formation.
The contract is valued at about $3 million.
