[09-24-07 – Satellite News]  Lockheed Martin has delivered the payload shipment module for the Flight 3 Advanced Extremely High Frequency (EHF) satellite to Northrop Grumman Space Technology, the U.S. Air Force announced.

The payload equipment module consists of structural panels that provide housing for all spacecraft bus and payload systems as well as thermal control.

Northrop Grumman will integrate payload components such as antennas and digital signal processors and then ship the payload module to Lockheed Martin Space Systems Center for final integration with the core propulsion system module.

The Advanced EHF system is designed to provide highly secure, communications for the U.S. Department of Defense. Lockheed Martin is the prime contractor for the program, while Northrop Grumman is the payload supplier.
