Space Insight has been awarded a contract by the British National Space Centre (BNSC) for a space surveillance system.

Under a contract valued at 75,000 British pounds ($143,000), Space Insight is exploring how a new sensor dubbed Starbrook can scan vast areas of sky every few hours to detect and map the locations of satellites and space objects. The sensor would improve traditional methods of tracking individual space objects due to complications from an increasing number of satellites and other space objects, BSNC said.

Space Insight also has also been awarded a 33,000-pound ($63,000) contract to update the U.K.’s capabilities for predicting when space debris might pose a risk of re-entry and Earth impact.
