Edge computing startup Armada has raised $40 million in a funding round led by M12, Microsoft‘s venture fund. Armada also announced a separate agreement with Microsoft where its products are now available in the Microsoft Azure cloud software marketplace.

Armada, which emerged from stealth mode in December, sells modular data centers that work with the Starlink constellation to bring edge computing to remote sites. The company also offers a platform to manage IoT assets, including Starlink terminals, mobile data centers, and other edge computing resources. With this investment, Armada has raised more than $100 million.

M12 Managing Partner Michael Stewart said Microsoft believes Armada will bring edge AI to challenging sectors. Armada’s customers include global oil and gas conglomerates, consumer packaged goods and entertainment companies, state government agencies, and more.

“Our partnership with Microsoft and presence of Armada products on the Azure marketplace will drive significant advancements in our mission to bridge the digital divide. We are excited about the opportunities this collaboration brings,” commented Armada CTO Pradeep Nair.
