SatixFy Communications is making another change at the CEO level, as CEO Ido Gur will step down. The company’s former Chief Commercial Officer Nir Barkan is returning as acting CEO on June 1, SatixFy announced on Tuesday.
The satellite technology company has been through a number of leadership changes since founder Yoel Gat died in 2022. The company named former Radcom exec David Ripstein as CEO, but Gur replaced him after about six months. Now, Gur is stepping down after about a year and a half in the role.
This comes after SatixFy recently announced that revenue fell 50% in 2022. The company reported that supply chain challenges caused order delays and cancellations. Revenue in 2022 was $10.6 million, compared with $21.7 million in 2021.
Barkan was CCO from 2014 to 2018. He has since been general manager and director of Curvalux. Barkan has also worked for Orbit Communication Systems and Novelsat.
Yoav Leibovitch, SatixFy co-founder and executive chairman said Barkan will strengthen SatixFy’s vision and product roadmap.
“We believe that [Barkan’s] solid technological and business background, coupled with his deep understanding of our industry, make him a solid fit for the leadership role at Satixfy. He brings a strong track record in product development and team leadership, as well as significant experience with our products and commercialization strategy,” Leibovitch said. “He played a pivotal role in establishing the product team in SatixFy’s early days, while also spearheading the commercial aspects of the entire unit, gaining significant attention from industry leaders including O3B, Google, and Facebook.”
