Airbus posted a 27% revenue increase in the third quarter of 2022, driven by higher commercial aircraft deliveries. Total revenue in Q3 was $13.3 billion.

Airbus reported results on Friday, citing higher commercial aircraft deliveries for the increase including a favorable mix, higher contributions from Airbus Defence and Space, and Airbus Helicopters, and the appreciation of the U.S. dollar.

The Airbus Defence and Space segment posted an 8% increase in Q3 compared to the same period in 2021, with $2.5 billion euros in revenue.

For the nine months so far this year, Defence and Space revenue is up 10.3%, but EBIT Adjusted is down 18.7%, because of the delay on the Ariane 6 rocket. ArianeGroup is a joint venture between Airbus and Safran. Airbus also cited the inflation and the effect of international sanctions on long-term contracts.

Airbus reported Space Systems accounts for 24% of the Defence and Space portfolio so far this year.

“Airbus delivered a solid nine-month 2022 financial performance in a complex operating environment,” said Guillaume Faury, Airbus Chief Executive Officer. “The supply chain remains fragile resulting from the cumulative impact of COVID, the war in Ukraine, energy supply issues and constrained labor markets. Our strong focus on cash flow and the favorable dollar/euro environment have enabled us to raise our free cash flow guidance for 2022.”
