Comtech Telecommunications has named Meketa Investment Group Managing Principal Judy Chambers to its board of directors after confirming the retirements of current board members Edwin Kantor, Ira Kaplan and Robert Paul.
Kantor, Kaplan, and Paul will officially retire from Comtech’s board in December. Moving forward, the company said that it will reduce the size of its board to five members, four of whom would be independent.
Chambers will join the board at the start of Comtech’s fiscal year 2022 on August 1. She will serve as chair of the board’s Nominating and Governance Committee and oversees Comtech’s corporate governance practices and processes, including its inclusiveness and diversity efforts.
At Meketa, Chambers helps manage the investment consulting firm’s portfolio of more than $1.5 trillion worth of assets under advisement. She also serves on the Board of Trustees of the Community Service Society of New York, a nonprofit focused on alleviating income inequality, and the Advisory Board of the Jazz Foundation of America, as well as Chair of the Advisory Board of the Robert Toigo Foundation, which promotes stronger stakeholder returns in the financial industry through inclusion and diversity.
“Across Comtech, we take seriously our responsibilities as an essential provider for the safety and security of communities and advancing economic opportunity for everyone,” said Comtech CEO Fred Kornberg. “To this end, the Board is committed to maintaining the right mix and balance of skills, experience, diversity and viewpoints through ongoing Board refreshment. Following the appointments of four independent directors in the past several years, our longstanding directors are able to retire with the utmost confidence in the continued stewardship of our company.”
