Forsway, the Swedish satellite/terrestrial broadband player, is adding a new member to its board of directors. The company announced Jan. 22 that Irdeto Executive Bengt Jonsson will join the board.
Forsway is one of the new interesting companies on the European satellite landscape. Its hybrid hardware and technology combines satellite with existing terrestrial technologies to enable broadband services for the large demographics of users in underserved markets lacking reliable internet access. The Forsway Xtend ecosystem, a 2019 Satellite Technology of the Year nominee, aims to be a complete toolkit and cost-effective hybrid satellite extension, aiming to challenge the high cost of connecting hard-to-reach, underserved markets.
Jonsson is currently senior vice president of Solutions at Irdeto, a provider of software security technology and cyber services for protecting digital platforms and assets across a range of industries. He has previously served as managing director at Forsway. “Enabling broadband services is a human rights issue and Forsway’s solutions, using existing technology and infrastructure, is by far the most cost-efficient way of bringing internet to the underserved areas of this planet,” Jonsson said in a statement.
