Eutelsat has hired Pascal Homsy, head of Thales Alenia Space’s Space Telecommunications Business Line, as chief technical officer (CTO). Eutelsat said in a Tuesday announcement that Homsy will join the operator in January and will sit on the executive committee.

He replaces Yohann Leroy, who is leaving Eutelsat. Leroy joined Eutelsat in 2010 and became CTO in July 2014. He also took on the position of deputy CEO in April 2017, and resigned that position in September.

Homsy has worked for telecom conglomerate Alcatel-Lucent-Nokia and Atos. He has teams specialized in IP platforms, voice and services, fixed networks, broadband wireless and mobile networks. Eutelsat said he brings with him an end-to-end knowledge of the company’s value chain because of his past roles in global account management and sales support roles at Alcatel, where he managed the company’s relationship with Orange.

Eutelsat CEO Rodolphe Belmer commented on the hire: “I am confident that Pascal’s extensive skill-set will be a great asset to Eutelsat as we pursue the transformation of our group to capture the connectivity opportunity.”
