Viasat laid off about 6% of its global workforce this week due to the economic impact of the coronavirus lockdown, including 131 workers at its Carlsbad, California, headquarters.
The company, which confirmed the layoffs on Thursday, said about 320 employees across all locations lost their jobs in the recent cuts. Viasat had approximately 5,400 employees worldwide before the layoffs. The layoffs highlight how the economic damage from the coronavirus isn’t limited to hotels, restaurants, retailers and theme parks.
