Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the Space Foundation has postponed the 36th Space Symposium, which was scheduled for March 30 through April 2 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The Space Foundation announced the decision on Friday, March 13, and a new date has not yet been set.

On Sunday, March 15, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issued guidance that large events and mass gatherings of 50 people or more be canceled or postponed over next 8 weeks throughout the United States in order to slow the spread of infection.

“The Space Foundation is working with its partners, The Broadmoor, the City of Colorado Springs, and its members and other key stakeholders to identify future dates and details that will assemble the world’s space community again in Colorado,” the Foundation said in a statement, asking for patience as it determines the next steps.

In addition, the foundation said that in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, it is limiting operations at its headquarters in Colorado Springs with teams working in alternative worksites, and the Space Foundation Discovery Center is closed.
