Hispasat and PLD Space have agreed to work together to define the technical features and analyzing compatibility to launch services on board MIURA 5 launcher. This agreement that these companies are working to validate PLD Space as a launch services provider. The Spanish satellite operator plans to use its experience with large launchers to help PLD Space establish specifications like mass, volume, and mechanical features that satellites must meet to be integrated and launched on board MIURA 5. 

“For us it is immensely satisfying to be able to collaborate with a young and entrepreneurial Spanish company like PLD Space,” Antonio Abad, technical and operations director of Hispasat said. “The appearance of young and daring companies full of great talent and ideas is excellent news for the Spanish space sector.”

PLD Space was founded in 2011 and is headquartered in Spain. The company is developing the orbital MIURA 5 smallsat launcher. PLD Space said it will soon launch the suborbital MIURA 1 rocket as a technological and operational demo, to validate the flight technologies to develop MIURA 5 in the future. The company has received 18 million euros of private investment and institutional support.
