[Via Satellite 11-04-2014] Outernet, a satellite startup company with a mission to broadcast free information via satellite to any Wi-Fi-enabled device, has signed a letter of intent to use Mishaal Aerospace’s M-OV orbital launch vehicle once it is ready. The M-OV is designed to deliver satellites ranging from 363 to 454 kg to Low Earth Orbit (LEO).

Outernet currently provides Fixed Satellite Services (FSS) using Intelsat’s Galaxy 19 and Eutelsat’s Hot Bird 13 East satellites. The company’s next step is to provide Mobile Satellite Services (MSS) from a constellation of CubeSats. The letter of intent details Outernet’s launch requirements and minimum payload. It also sets the stage for negotiations once the M-OV is commercially operable.

This was Mishaal Aerospace’s second letter of intent signed in Oct. 2014. SpaceQuest, a manufacturer of small satellites and satellite components, also expressed intent to use the M-OV for future satellites.
