Azerbaijan has moved a step losing to having its own space capability. Azerbaijan’s first satellite, Azerspace-1 is undergoing final testing ahead of launch next year. Testing will be completed this week. The satellite is likely to be delivered to Kourou in January ahead of launch via an Ariane 5 rocket in February. The satellite, once launched, will be located at the orbital position of 46 degrees East.
The Azerspace-1 satellite will enable Azerbaijan to benefit from a number of space-based services such as: broadcasting, Internet access, database transfer, creation of multi-service VSAT networks as well as specific government programs.
