Trimble has expanded its satellite-delivered Trimble RTX technology coverage to most of the world, enabling the new Trimble xFill technique in RTK and VRS surveying that allows surveyors to continue working when the primary correction stream is not available, the company announced Nov. 7.
First introduced in 2011, the Trimble RTX technology combines real-time data and positioning algorithms to deliver centimeter accuracy, originally only available via satellite L-Band in North and South America. The expanded satellite coverage now includes most of Europe, Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), Africa, Asia and Australasia. Powered by Trimble RTX technology, the Trimble xFill is integrated into the Trimble R10 GNSS Receiver and is designed to substitute for RTK or VRS corrections for up to five minutes if a temporary connection outage with the primary correction source occurs. The Trimble xFill feature allows satellite corrections to be delivered directly to the receiver with no need for additional equipment, with corrections tracked automatically by the Trimble R10 Receiver.
Trimble xFill is expected to be available by late November 2012 across the expanded satellite coverage area . “The geographic expansion of Trimble RTX technology, enabling Trimble xFill, brings a unique advantage to surveyors throughout the world,” Trimble Survey Division General Manager Anders Rhodin said in a statement. “The next generation capabilities of the Trimble R10 and its xFill feature are unmatched in the industry today and enable surveyors to continue to work, even in the toughest GNSS environments, more productively.”
