Marlink is creating its own cybersecurity company in a strategic move. Marlink Cyber will be a dedicated cybersecurity company to address growth of cyber threats and the increasing need for compliance. Some 150 experts will focus on developing and delivering the services and solutions customers need to address emerging cyber challenges. Marlink announced the creation of the company on April 2.
The company will have multiple security operations centers in strategic global locations – including the original maritime Security Operations Centre (SOC), and provide proactive services to help customers understand and adapt their security posture. The company will also provide cross-functional resources provide a coordinated approach, sharing intelligence for comprehensive cyber security protection.
Marlink is known for operating in segments such as energy, maritime and humanitarian where these sectors face multiple challenges in understanding security vulnerabilities, levels of safety, anticipated threats and their position relative to best industry practice. Drawing on the established NIST framework of ‘Identify, Protect, Detect, Respond, Recover, Govern’ Marlink Cyber will help them build operational resilience, comply with regulations and invest for greatest impact.

By combining our resources into a single dedicated entity, we can ease our customers’ pain points and support their strategies with highly effective managed solutions and services,” Nicolas Furge, president of Marlink Cyber, said in a statement.
Last year, Marlink released a global maritime cyber threat report produced by its SOC, which registered 23,400 malware detections and 178 ransomware detections in the first half of 2024. The SOC actively monitored more than 1,800 vessels in the first half of 2024, and found that malicious activity increased “significantly” in the first six months of 2024 compared to the previous year.
