Orange Launches New Project with SES to Enhance Connectivity in Wallis and Futuna Islands
Orange launched a new project to replace the existing satellite infrastructure of the French Wallis and Futuna Islands in the Pacific Ocean, working with SES. The Nuanua project will use the O3b mPOWER system, SES announced Jan. 28.
The initiative aims to provide high-performance connectivity services, complementing the existing submarine cable and improving the territory’s reliability, sustainability, and connectivity solutions.
Co-financed by the European Union, under the “Connecting Europe Facilities – Digital” program, Orange will deploy and operate the Nuanau project. SES said the project is scheduled to be operational by the end of the first half of 2025.
Jean-Louis Le Roux, president of Orange Wallis and Futuna, stated: “The Nuanua project showcases the expertise of Orange teams in the satellite domain. By modernizing the infrastructure of Wallis and Futuna, we also demonstrate our commitment to making new investments to develop the digital economy of the territory and meet the growing needs of users.”
