Poland’s flagship air carrier LOT Polish Airlines awarded Viasat a contract to provide in-flight connectivity for 15 Boeing aircraft in its fleet. This marks the first time LOT will offer in-flight Wi-Fi.

Viasat will equip 15 aircraft in LOT’s wide-body Boeing 787-8 and 787-9 Dreamliner fleet with Ka-band IFC as part of a major upgrade that includes upgrading the internal cabin design and seat replacements. Service on the planes is expected to begin by early 2026.

“As part of our cabin upgrade, which will provide a new quality of travel, we have partnered with Viasat, a global leader in connectivity, to implement our in-flight connectivity services,” commented Izabela Leszczyńska, LOT’s director of Product Development and Customer Experience. “The ability to enjoy Internet access while flying will top off the many changes that the retrofit of our Boeing B787 Dreamliner will bring.”

Viasat has signed new contracts or expansion deals with a number of airlines in Europe and the Middle East this year. The largest was with German airline Lufthansa Group, but the list also inludes Qantas Airways, Royal Jordanian Airlines, Icelandair, and Korean Air
