Satellite operator Telespazio has signed a deal with SpaceX to bring Starlink constellation solutions into its mix. As a result of this agreement, Telespazio will be able to integrate Starlink into its global hybrid connectivity network, which is made up of satellite and terrestrial solutions, including global fixed and mobile communications services.
Telespazio is a joint venture between Italy’s Leonardo, which holds a 67% stake, and France’s Thales, which holds a 33% stake in the company. SpaceX’s Starlink is a constellation of satellites designed to provide broadband internet services around the world, particularly in rural areas that are poorly served by other networks.
“We are very satisfied with the agreement reached with Starlink, which allows Telespazio to further expand its offer portfolio in the satcom field, thus fully responding to the specific needs of the institutional world and of strategic segments of the industrial world, such as energy and maritime,” Alessandro Caranci, Vice President, Telespazio’s Satellite Communications Line of Business, said in a statement.
