Hughes Network Systems is rolling out new satellite internet HughesNet plans geared toward small business. The company said new plans announced this week include business-grade support, quicker repairs, and free installation. Hughes said the plans have 25 Mbps download speeds.
The plans also include HughesNet Fusion — which combines Geostationary (GEO) satellite and wireless technologies for a lower latency, faster service. The company introduced Fusion last year to try to combat subscriber decline due to Starlink competition.
Hughes is shedding broadband subscribers as Starlink has ramped up in the United States, and the operator is maxed out on capacity awaiting the launch of Jupiter 3. Its broadband subscribers declined 16% during 2022. The company ended the year with approximately 1,228,000 subscribers after shedding 57,000 in the fourth quarter.
“Late last year, we introduced HughesNet Fusion to the consumer market, offering rural Americans a high-speed, low-latency reliable internet service,” said Doug Medina, vice president of Hughes. “Now, we’re bringing the same multi-path technology to the small business market, so companies beyond the reach of fiber and cable internet can choose the HughesNet plan that best meets their needs.”
