Q-KON Africa has joined OneWeb’s distribution partner network and will offer broadband connectivity services in Africa with OneWeb’s Low-Earth Orbit (LEO) capacity. Q-KON Africa sells its satellite broadband service Twoobii to core networks throughout Africa. 

The companies announced the strategic five-year distribution agreement on Nov. 18 after with as signed at AfricaCom. Q-KON Africa will use OneWeb capacity to provide broadband and Wi-Fi backhaul to connect schools, hospitals, civil government and other fixed enterprise and fintech services throughout the continent including banking and mining.

“For us, OneWeb’s global lead and focus to deliver assured business grade,  high-performance satellite services is the perfect option to expand our successful Twoobii Smart Satellite Services for Southern Africa. OneWeb’s technology innovations will deliver data speeds of 100 Mbps and low latency of 70 ms, which will enable us to further service the business, enterprise and financial markets,” commented Dawie de Wet,CEO of Q-KON Africa. 

OneWeb said it remains on track to cover Africa and the rest of the world in 2023.
