Andesat has tapped SES for capacity on the SES-14 satellite to support enterprise services and universal service obligation (USO) commitments over Chile and Peru. SES announced the deal May 31.

In Chile, Andesat will use the capacity for traffic-intensive network applications for the agro-fishing and mining industries. In Peru, capacity will support the government connectivity initiative Te Conectamos Perú, with voice and broadband connectivity. SES will provide managed enterprise services in 280 remote sites by the end of 2022.

“We believe access to reliable connectivity services has a tremendously positive impact in the lives and livelihoods of people, supporting the development of communities. This partnership with SES enables us to expand our presence and capabilities across the Andean region with game-changing, satellite-delivered telecom solutions, allowing us to offer greater opportunities and value to our customers and communities throughout rural, underserved regions,” said Pablo Rasore, CEO at Andesat Group.

Andesat is a licensed rural mobile infrastructure operator (OIMR) in Peru and is working to bring mobile cellular networks to rural communities that do not have service. Andesat also ordered an Astranis MicroGEO satellite for cellular backhaul last year, set to launch in 2023.
