Wyld Networks is joining forces with Treevia to deploy its IoT sensor-to-satellite technology with Treevia SmartForest, a digital platform for forest operation management. The companies said better forest management is key in the battle to improve the climate in future years.
With Wyld’s satellite IoT solutions, Treevia aims to collect data from IoT sensors in remote locations at low power, even where there is no cellular connectivity. While there has been an effort to curb carbon emissions, poor forest management, deforestation and illegal logging get in the way of climate goals. Treevia said its technology automates the collection, processing, and visualization of data from forest assets to increase forest productivity and improve sustainability. It monitors key variables in forest environments by automating data collection using high-precision IoT sensors.
“Wyld’s satellite IoT solution will deliver efficiency and scalability as we look to extend our technology to the mass monitoring of tree assets across the globe. At present, Treevia monitors over 100,000 hectares of forests and we plan to monitor 1 billion hectares of forests by 2030, one-quarter of the world’s total forest area,” Maycow Berbert, CTO of Treevia, said in a statement.
