Eutelsat has signed a new capacity deal in South Africa. The company announced June 22 that it had reached a multi-year deal with Vox, an end-to-end integrated infrastructure and telecoms company to enable high-speed connectivity throughout South Africa. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Vox will use Eutelsat KONNECT, Eutelsat’s new-generation High Throughput Satellite (HTS), and Eutelsat’s service to further grow its satellite customer base in South Africa.

“We are delighted to be partnering with Eutelsat to provide solutions that connect South Africans by supporting customers, entrepreneurs, and commerce, whilst guaranteeing service excellence. We are confident that Eutelsat’s unparalleled in-orbit assets, together with its unrivalled customer support will be a great benefit to a growing number of customers,” Jacques Visser, head of wireless at Vox said in a statement.

Eutelsat’s KONNECT satellite, which covers Africa and Europe, entered service in November 2020. The operator has signed a number of capacity contracts for the satellite in Africa, including a recent deal with Facebook.
