Axess Networks is working with one of the largest Mobile Network Operators (MNO) in Mexico to expand its coverage to the entire Mexican territory, the satellite operator announced Dec. 3. A financial component to the deal was not disclosed.

Axess Networks is currently about 75% completed with implementation for an initial award of 95 sites, and plans to have full implementation in place by the end of the year. This mobile operator implementation includes satellite technology, microwave and fiber technology sites, giving greater reach to the network. The MNO cannot be named for legal reasons.

This follows a previous announcement in October that Axess Networks is providing cellular backhaul connectivity services for ALTÁN Redes in Mexico. The first phase of that project includes 80 satellite sites, and the second phase will include an additional 1,000 sites.

“This implementation, together with the one previously published on Altán Redes, shows that two of the most important mobile operators in Mexico have satellite cellular backhaul solutions designed and implemented by Axess Networks, their technology partner, who supports them in expanding their coverage throughout the Mexican territory,” the company said in a press release.
