Globalstar announced the introduction of Sat-Browse, a new internet compression and search engine technology powered by Yippy. According to Globalstar, Sat-Browse enhances the internet browsing experience for the company’s satellite subscribers through quick access to text-based information and decreased load times for data from the web or corporate data silos. Supporting multiple languages, Sat-Browse allows users to stay informed when beyond cellular with faster access to news, sports, weather and informational or educational sites.
Sat-Browse works via the Sat-Fi app using either Globalstar’s Sat-Fi or 9600 Data Hotspot satellite devices. These products are used by a wide range of customers in industries such as commercial fishing and marine, oil and gas, forestry, mining and construction as well as outdoor sports and recreation. Subscribers with an existing Globalstar satellite phone and data cable can use their normal data connection to take advantage of the Sat-Browse technology using their existing internet browser.
“With Yippy compression and search engine technology, we are ensuring that data is optimized for delivery over satellite, that the user experience is the same across all devices, and that the service is language agnostic for regional use, collectively resulting in an overall improvement of the customer’s off the grid satellite communications,” said Jay Monroe, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Globalstar.
