V-Nova and Tata Elxsi announced a partnership that enables operators to deploy V-Nova Perseus technology at an accelerated pace. Tata Elxsi has already integrated V-Nova’s technology within the Set-Top-Box (STB) of a satellite TV operator in Europe, enabling rapid deployment and immediate benefits.

V-Nova Perseus offers next-generation codecs on available encoders and decoders, and also reduces processing power requirements. It’s also compatible with Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) hardware, including both legacy and the latest generation of STBs.

According to V-Nova, the benefits are particularly suited to video-hungry services, from High Definition (HD) and Ultra-HD TV to social media applications, across all delivery networks. V-Nova Perseus is compatible with existing h.264/ High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC) workflows irrespective of Digital Radio Mondiale (DRM), streaming protocol such as HTTP Live Streaming (HLS) and Dynamic Adaptive Streaming over HTTP (DASH), ad-insertion and other processes. Perseus has been deployed in a number of applications from contribution to IPTV and Over-the-Top (OTT) delivery.
