Cloud Constellation announced that the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has awarded the company a patent for a global communications platform operating in Low-Earth Orbit (LEO). Users of SpaceBelt will be able to transport and/or store large blocks of data quickly and securely without exposure to any terrestrial communications infrastructure.

According to Cloud Constellation, the deployment of satellite-based secure storage will protect critical data from unauthorized access while supporting global communications at reduced latency of today’s multi-hop networks.

The company highlighted a number of its platform’s advantages, including high data throughput with infrastructure savings, due to its avoidance of terrestrial “hops;” jurisdictional compliance, as hosting data on SpaceBelt can comply with international data sovereignty protection requirements; and protection of sensitive data for a range of organizations including large telcos and network data security firms.
