[Via Satellite 09-15-2016] Beijing Marine Communication & Navigation Company (MCN) and Aviation Data Communication Corporation (ADCC) have contracted with satellite operator Inmarsat to provide aviation safety services to Air Navigation Service Providers (ANSPs) and operators in the People’s Republic of China (PRC).
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), signed this week, outlines MCN/ADCC’s intention to offer cockpit communication services, including Inmarsat’s Classic Aero and next generation SwiftBroadband-Safety (SBB-S) services, across the country. The companies expect to finalize the partnership later this year.
Classic Aero is a voice and data safety service that offers satellite surveillance and communications — such as Future Air Navigation System (FANS) and Aircraft Communications Addressing and Reporting System (ACARS) — that meet International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) global flight tracking requirements.
SwiftBroadband-Safety uses IP-based broadband capabilities to offer connectivity for cockpit and aircraft operations. The solution is capable of delivering flight data streaming and real-time Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) applications such as graphical weather.
