[Via Satellite 09-30-2015] Japan Transocean Air has selected Gogo’s 2Ku In-flight Connectivity (IFC) solution. The airline will fit its new Boeing 737-800 aircraft with 2Ku, as well as Gogo’s wireless In-Flight Entertainment (IFE) service, Gogo Vision.

Gogo is several weeks into the flight-testing of 2Ku. According to the company, the tests show that 2Ku can deliver least twice the performance of any gimbaled antenna currently in the market, regardless of spectrum. Gogo claims 2Ku can make or exceed the bandwidth of all other solutions, including regional Ka-band solutions, by tapping into more than 100 orbiting Ku-band satellites.

“Eight commercial airlines around the world have agreed to deploy 2Ku on more than 550 aircraft. This is over half of the aircraft committed in the industry since we announced 2Ku. The adoption rate is unprecedented,” said Michael Small, president and CEO of Gogo.
