[Via Satellite 05-15-2015] RigNet announced one of its upstream oil and gas customers has renewed a two-year contract for managed remote communications between its head office, base camp, and five onshore rigs. The contract includes increased bandwidth, backhaul from RigNet’s teleport to the customer’s head office, and 24/7 network monitoring tools and support services from RigNet’s Network Operations Center (NOC), with onsite support services as required.

RigNet is delivering a fully managed end-to-end IP network solution using Very Small Aperture Terminals (VSATs) for last-mile connectivity. The solution includes Crew Wi-Fi, Voice Over IP (VoIP), enterprise data, and broadband services. RigNet is using a Riverbed Steelhead appliance-powered Wide Area Network (WAN) optimization service for improved end user experience.
