[Via Satellite 10-21-2014] Emerging Markets Communications (EMC) has released QuickSkid, a new connectivity solution designed for the oil and gas sector. QuickSkid uses EMC’s global Ku-band coverage to provide voice, video, remote vehicle operation and other services.

The new solution can be used as a primary or secondary connection for high bandwidth applications. EMC is shipping equipment to sites around the world to accelerate adoption in the Gulf of Mexico, North Sea, offshore Angola, Spain, Singapore and Brazil.

QuickSkid supports Bring Your Own Device (BYOD), and can be used for emergency response in the event rig owners experience an outage. EMC also provides field-engineering support as part of the fully managed service.
