[Via Satellite 09-16-2014] Eutelsat and Cisco have partnered for a demonstration of cloud-based video content provided over satellite. The demonstration at IBC 2014 showcased live IP streaming and Push Video On Demand (VOD) through a turnkey solution using Eutelsat’s “smart LNB” and Cisco’s Set-Top-Box embedding Cisco Videoscape technology.

Eutelsat’s “smart LNB” bundles Direct-to-Home (DTH) reception using a narrowband satellite return channel for short transmissions of IP packets, enabling connected TV services by satellite. Cisco’s cloud-based video platform, Cisco Videoscape, is designed to support multiscreen experiences.
