[Via Satellite 07-16-2014] Based on agreements with AltegroSky and RuSat, Gogo has been granted regulatory approval to provide Ku-band satellite connectivity for flights crossing eastern and western parts of Russia. Gogo anticipates beginning the service by the end of the month.

“This license will allow us to offer our current international airline partners coverage for their existing airline routes and is another significant step in giving us a truly global in-flight communications network,” said Anand Chari, Gogo’s chief technology officer.

At its inaugural investor day in June, Gogo told analysts that international markets were the way forward. The company has rights to operate in more than 180 countries and plans to have as many as 100 international aircraft flying by the end of the year.
