[Via Satellite 06-18-2014] Hispasat will provide satellite communications for the members of the 29th Ruta Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria (BBVA), an educational and cultural exchange project for Spanish-speaking youth. The expedition, sponsored by BBVA bank and supported by the European Union, began its route to Peru on June 18, 2014. Hispasat will provide both capacity and the technical equipment necessary for transmissions throughout the journey, so that the organizers and journalists on the trip can have access to Internet. The equipment includes a portable, bi-directional satellite terminal and a deployable antenna. A specialist from Hispasat will also accompany the expedition to assist in any possible issues that may arise.
This is the 11th year Hispasat accompanied the BBVA Route as a supplier of satellite broadband services. In addition to communications services and equipment provided, Hispasat offers members of BBVA Route 2014 the opportunity to communicate with family members in Spain through a live satellite videoconference on June 30, 2014. Families will gather at the operator’s satellite control center in Arganda del Rey, Spain, a town outside of Madrid.
