[Via Satellite 06-05-2014] Slovak Telekom selected Intelsat’s video neighborhood at 1 degree west for its Direct-to-Home (DTH) services in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE). Intelsat’s terrestrial network, IntelsatOne, will provide an uplink from the company’s teleport in Fuchsstadt, Germany with fiber contribution from Bratislava, Slovakia and a provision for disaster recovery uplink services.

“Intelsat’s global scale and portfolio of services enabled them to rapidly respond and meet our needs for a cost-efficient solution that will deepen our relationships with new and existing subscribers,” said Dušan Švalek, CMMO at Slovak Telekom. “The prime video neighborhood, reliability of the IntelsatOne network and benefits from the economies of scale were instrumental in our decision to move our service to Intelsat.”
