[Via Satellite 05-29-2014] Freesat partnered with Curzon Home Cinema to launch the company’s Video On Demand (VOD) service through Freetime, the connected TV service. The new player will give viewers the chance to watch the latest movie releases from their homes on demand, and customers will only pay for the films they watch. There is no monthly subscription fee for the service, which has an extensive offering of independent films. Some films will be made available the same day as their cinema release.

The Curzon Home Cinema player joins the portfolio of Freesat’s on demand offerings such as the BBC iPlayer, the ITV player, 4oD, Demand 5 and YouTube, along with the BBC News and BBC Sports apps. The service became available on Humax Freetime Set-Top Boxes (STBs) on Wednesday, May 28, 2014 and will be available on Freetime Panasonic smart televisions in June.
