[Via Satellite 03-27-2014] Aircell, the business innovation group of Gogo, has received Supplemental Type Certificates (STCs) from the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) for installation of in-flight connectivity and entertainment systems aboard Bombardier Challenger 300 business jets. The certifications cover both the Aviator 300 and UCS 5000 systems.
The Aviator 300 system uses Inmarsat’s satellite-based SwiftBroadband service to enable near-global email, light Internet and voice capabilities to passengers and crew. Those on board can use personal Wi-Fi enabled devices to surf the Web, receive emails and access corporate VPNs, as well as place and receive voice calls.
The UCS 5000 system is an all-in-one smart router and media server that manages and simplifies passenger use of in-flight connectivity, entertainment and information in the air. It also offers the option of a full-fledged media server and the on-demand, in-flight entertainment (IFE) service, Gogo Vision, in one unit.
