[Via Satellite 03-14-2014] Gogo, a company that provides in-flight connectivity and wireless in-flight digital entertainment solutions, has received a supplemental type certificate (STC) from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) along with certification from the Japan Civil Aviation Bureau (JCAB) to install its Ku-satellite based service on Japan Airlines’ (JAL) 777-200 aircraft. These certifications are key steps needed to pave the way for launching service on JAL. Gogo has partnered with JAL to install connectivity services and Gogo Vision, the company’s wireless in-flight entertainment service, on JAL’s domestic fleet.
“This is a major milestone for Gogo and a big step in clearing the way for connectivity service on JAL service,” said Michael Small, Gogo’s president and CEO. “We are proud to offer a consistent global connectivity experience anywhere our customers fly; whether it’s on regional aircraft, domestic mainline aircraft or these Ku-equipped 777s that travel around the world.”
