[Via Satellite 02-03-2014] TeleCommunication Systems (TCS) has announced that the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has issued the company eight U.S. patents, along with five foreign patents, during the fourth quarter of 2013.
The eight U.S. patents describe innovations in location-based services (LBS), Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and mapping, public safety, wireless and messaging.
Three of the patents include public safety solutions for wireless E9-1-1, portable navigation systems, and the Historical Data Based Navigational Routing patent.
“TCS continues to look for opportunities to monetize its intellectual property portfolio via sales, direct licensing, cross licensing, and other creative solutions. TCS filed for 64 U.S. patents in 2013; the total number of patents issued worldwide in the portfolio is 349, and more than 365 patent applications are pending worldwide,” said Bob Held, TCS vice president of Intellectual Asset Management.
