[Via Satellite 12-30-13] KT has selected Hwang Chang-Gyu through its CEO recommendation committee as the company’s new CEO candidate.

KT cited Hwang’s background as an IT specialist, his ability to create new businesses, and his experience as Korea’s CTO in the R&D planning office of the Ministry of Knowledge and Economy as poignant reasons for his selection.

Hwang is expected to lead KT in overcoming current obstacles and to place the company back on track, eventually enhancing KT’s long-term corporate value. If approved, he will also play significant role in reconciling numerous organizations associated with the company such as governing bodies and competitors.

Chang-Gyu is subject to final approval by the shareholders through an extraordinary general shareholder meeting in January 2014. Following an official appointment, an employment contract will be signed with the CEO recommendation committee.
