[Via Satellite 09-27-13] Hermes Datacomms has opened a new office in Nairobi, Kenya to support East African operations and to improve in-country support in Kenya. The company foresees that the region will become an important player in the oil industry in the next 25 years.

“Africa will represent a significant percentage of oil production in the next 25 years and beyond, from the oil rich basins on the offshore West to the on shore rift from North to South in the East,” said Bill Green, global account director at Hermes.

After signing a new contract for an oilfield service company in the region, and a contract extension from a major customer, Hermes has seen the opportunity to better serve these customers from this new office, according Barry Bouwmeester, Hermes business development.

“Following a significant contract extension from a major customer to support their increasing pace of exploration in Kenya due to oil discoveries in East Africa and the signing of a substantial new contract for an oilfield service company in the same region, Hermes has opened a new office in Nairobi, Kenya to ensure that all our customers in the region are provided with in-depth, direct and extensive support, and a dependable service that exceeds customer and industry expectations,” Bouwmeester said. “The branch opening supports our expansion plans for East Africa including Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania, South Sudan, Uganda and Mozambique.”
