[Via Satellite 09-05-13] Alfanews, a satellite transmission and TV production service provider based in Arezzo, Italy, has adopted Ateme’s Kyrion CM5000 contribution encoder. The extended feature set of the encoder has allowed Alfanews to upgrade its fleet and pool of flight cases with MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 4:2:2 10-bit encoding, adding support of 1080p50/60 resolution and frame rate.

Alfanews first used the new kits to cover the papal conclave in Rome in May 2013 and the Volleyball World League tournament in Modena in June.

“Through our work with Ateme, we found the company shares a similar passion for engineering and today we truly leverage its innovation to offer broadcasters more comprehensive and reliable services,” said Carla Borri, co-founder and general manager, Alfanews.
