[Satellite TODAY 08-13-13] The Satellite Interference Reduction Group (IRG) and satellite communications specialist, Newtec, have launched a survey to find out what the industry really thinks when it comes to satellite interference and Carrier ID.

The survey looks at how often respondents suffer from interference, explores the reasons to implement Carrier ID, as well as any issues that may deter its implementation. The survey will also look at whether the industry feels other reasons for the move take precedence, such as the upcoming sports events, or having experienced the effects of interference.

The survey follows the launch of a number of significant resolutions by the World Broad Casting Unions WBU-ISOG, relating to the implementation timeframes of Carrier ID, including the requirement that all satellite operators start the transition to use Carrier ID that meets new standards by no later than Jan. 1, 2015.
