[Satellite TODAY 7-3-13] Advantech Wireless has successfully deployed the DVB-RCS Discovery 300 Hub system delivered under contract to OJSC Gazprom Space Systems (GSS) for a network based on Yamal 201 satellite’s resources. Via the new Discovery Hub, GSS plans to provide broadband satellite access services within the Yamal 201 satellite’s service, which covers nearly the entire territory of Russia.

The Discovery 300 is a full featured DVB-RCS VSAT Hub supporting up to 3,000 active terminals, DVB-S2 CCM/VCM/ACM outbound, Adaptive Satellite Access Technology (A-SATTM) option based SCPC, mesh overlay, and multiple beams/satellite. The hub is designed to provide up to five forward links with the throughput of up to 155 Mbps per link and up to 480 return links with a total throughput of 120 Mbps.

“The history of our cooperation with Advantech traces its roots from 2006, when GSS came into the DVB-RCS services market based on HUB, manufactured by this company. Since that time we consider Advantech as a qualified and reliable partner, which provides leading-edge technologic solutions,” Dmitry Sevastianov, CEO of OJSC Gazprom Space Systems said in a statement.
