[Satellite TODAY 06-04-13] Geolink Satellite Services, part of CETel Group, has signed a capacity renewal agreement with Telesat to provide satellite connectivity across Africa and Europe.

Under the contract, Geolink is extending part of its capacity commitment on Telesat’s Telstar 11N satellite at 37.5 degrees west. The Ku-band capacity is required to expand Geolink’s VSAT networks and to serve growing demand from oil and gas customers in European and African markets.

Geolink’s Ku-band capacity is deployed across Africa and Europe to deliver broadband connectivity to non-governmental organizations (NGOs), mining, media, maritime and other sectors. With more than 4,000 active terminals, a teleport facility in Germany, and a network operations center in Paris, Geolink provides solutions in C, Ku, L and Ka-bands.

“This renewal is a strong endorsement of the capabilities and coverage of Telstar 11N and reflects the winning relationship Telesat has built with Geolink Satellite Services over the years,” Christophe Pacilly, president of Geolink Satellite Services, said in a statement.
