[Satellite TODAY 05-29-13] Thuraya Telecommunications has become the newest member of the Space Data Association (SDA), a non-profit association that brings together international satellite operators to share critical data and best practices vital to the safety and integrity of the space environment and the radio frequency (RF) spectrum.

“We are pleased to be part of the SDA and are firmly in support of their mission to facilitate the improved management of shared resources within the space environment and the RF spectrum. Fostering stronger collaboration within the industry enables global satellite operators like Thuraya to mitigate risks in our operations and to ensure the best possible service to our users. We are looking forward to working with our peers in taking this collaboration to the next level,” said Ahmed Al Shamsi, chief technology officer at Thuraya.

Ronald Busch, chairman and executive director of the SDA said, “Thuraya’s participation in the SDA is a strong attestation towards the value of our continued efforts. We welcome their participation as a new Member; and we look forward to being able to fully leverage their experience and status within the MSS sector.”
