[Satellite TODAY 05-13-13] Israel based Spacecom, the operator of the AMOS satellite fleet, has won a $3.2 million expansion contract with a Southern African Internet technology provider. Under the terms of the agreement, the contract period will be extended, capacity on the AMOS-5 satellite will be expanded, and the agreement also increases the existing client’s C-band standard and extended beam capacity.
Spacecom’s client will use its AMOS-5 capacity for a variety of VSAT services and broadband backbone to further service the financial and general enterprise sectors in Southern Africa.
“We are very happy that an existing client is … expanding its relationship with us,” Eyal Copitt, senior vice president of sales and marketing for Africa, Asia at Spacecom, said in a statement.
