[Satellite TODAY 03-12-13] Mobile Satellite Services (MSS) operator Thuraya Telecommunications has announced the launch of Thuraya IP+, the latest addition to its portfolio of mobile satellite broadband terminals.
Thuraya’s new satellite broadband terminal is designed to achieve the fastest IP speeds, ensuring quick and reliable access to broadband data services over Thuraya’s satellite network. The terminal allows for a wide range of applications such as live high quality video broadcasting, web browsing, email, social media communications, data transfer, VoIP applications, and access to corporate networks from remote locations beyond the reach of traditional terrestrial networks.
The Thuraya IP+ is smaller than a regular laptop and weighs 1.4 kilos for fast deployment to support high-bandwidth applications at speeds of up to 444Kbps on standard IP, and 384kbps on streaming IP with a built-in antenna. The terminal can be configured to provide asymmetric streaming capabilities enabling users to control their upload and download speeds based on usage requirements, optimizing bandwidth costs.
